We will have a Mediterranean dinner at Julieta's and enjoy her new fountain and garden. Members surprised Julieta with a belated birthday celebration. Julieta received a gift certificate for her favorite clothes store, beautiful glass earrings, and a small decorative cast-iron bird bath stained brown with blue robin's egg soaps. Heather made a stunning debut with her first dish, a luscious carrot soup, garnished with parsley and shreds of carrot - it was savored by all. Leslie had the group swooning with the most amazing homemade baba ghannoush and warm pitas. Margo used Julieta's homemade preserved lemons in her couscous dish with vivid orange butternut squash, and Julieta spent four days preparing her eagerly-anticipated and much-loved dish, Chicken with Pears. Julieta's home was decorated for halloween with pumpkins, candles, skeletons, leaves and candles. A small gift bag awaited members at the dining table filled with colorful beads, a tiny candle, and candies.
